Dispassionate, mechanical engine of success...
The stratosphere was his for asking.

No feeling, anger, hurt or despair,
No emotion...that oft-despised "excess" baggage.
That's all that had to be cast away,
For the heady glory...he'd always dreamed of it.

Yet he did not, would not, could not.
He loved them...her, him, them...

Success without feeling, without love or despair!

Nah, he'd stay human and struggle...
Like her, like him, like them all.
