bawra mann

-
bawra mann dekhne chala ek sapna,
bawra mann dekhne chala ek sapna...

bawra mann dekhne chala ek sapna,
bawra mann dekhne chala ek sapna...

bawre se iss jahan mein bawara ek saath ho,
iss sayani bheed mein bas haathon mein tera haath ho,
bawri si dhun ho koi, bawra ek raag ho,
bawre se pair chahe, bawre taranon pein,
bawre se bol pe thirakna.

bawra mann dekhne chala ek sapna,
bawra mann dekhne chala ek sapna...

bawra sa ho andhera, bawri khamoshiyan,
bawra sa ho andhera, bawri khamoshiyan,
thartharati louh maddham, bawri madhoshiyan,
bawra ek ghoongta chahe, haule haule mooh batae,
bawra ek ghoongta chahe, haule haule din batae,
bawre se mukhre se sarakna.

bawra man dekhne chala ek sapna,
bawra man dekhne chala ek sapna...

This song is divine and well complemented by Swanand Kirkire. No hard feelings the song I hate the way Subha Mudgal has sung it. I still remember the March of 2004 when Ravi first sung this song to us. We were spellbound and made him sing it at least for 40-50 times.
Since then all friends in my circle have the audio cassettes in there car. Hats off.....

Could someone point me to a deeper translation of the lyrics?
Embarassed to say that until I realized the beautiful expression that could be brought out through Hindi/Urdu, I had already gone down the much taken path of mastering the English language (sigh)

bawra means mad in a light sense.someone who doesn't have a sense of the world.he is happy in building his own world and goes on roaming everywhere without any particular sense or need.

    Bewitched

The bewitched mind is on its way to dream

The bewitched mind has bewitched thoughts
It beats crazily and takes crazy breaths
Why does sleep run away from the crazy twisting and turning
The bewitched eyes long to watch bewitching sights through the bewitching
    jharokas

The bewitched mind is on its way to dream

In this crazy world, I wish I had some bewitching company
With this scheming crowd around, I wish your hands were in mine
Wish there was a bewitching melody and a bewitching composition
My bewitched feet desire to dance to the bewitching tunes of bewitching songs

The bewitched mind is on its way to dream

I wish the darkness was bewitching and so was the silence
I wish quivering lips go easy, the intoxication is bewitching
One bewitched veil, slowly tells us of the break of dawn with a bewitched face

The bewitched mind is on its way to dream

i think the translation bewitched is wrong here. that would be baanwariya. banwara is very difficult to translate but its close to innocent or naive

I agree with sukhmani, "bewitched" isn't the right word. But the translation is still awesome! Thanks.
Thanks for the lyrics as well :-)
